Dr. Seuss Day
- The PFC offers Cat in the Hat Dr Seuss hats in exchange for a small donation. Hats are sold after school for the week before Read Across America Day. Students can wear these fun hats to school on March 2nd and to Family Reading Night.
- Family Reading Night on is on the Tuesday night closest to Read Across America day. Students and their families are invited to enjoy storytellers, book swap, give-aways, and delicious eats.

- Westwood participates in Read to Succeed® - a free program from Six Flags and Discovery Education. Every student who completes six hours of recreational reading before a to-be-pulished date in February is eligible for a free admission ticket valid at participating Six Flags theme parks. Reading logs go home with each student in January.
- Westwood teachers, staff & parent volunteers plan special activities in class on March 2nd to celebrate reading with young people.
Read Across America Day is a nationwide reading celebration that takes place annually on March 2—Dr. Seuss’s birthday.
Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books!
